Definition and function

Mini cylinder is a small pneumatic actuator, usually composed of a cylinder body, a cylinder head, a cylinder piston and a seal. It converts compressed air into mechanical energy by controlling the action of air pressure to achieve linear or rotary motion required for work. The function of the mini cylinder is to convert the working pressure of the air source into linear or rotary mechanical action through the air resistance generated by the cylinder body of the cylinder, thereby pushing the actuator connected to the cylinder, such as the cylinder piston pushing the robot arm actuator to achieve the grabbing and placement functions of the robot arm‌.

Types and characteristics

Mini cylinders can be divided into single-acting cylinders and double-acting cylinders according to different working modes. The single-acting cylinder has only one working chamber, which pushes the piston to move when the air source is introduced, and recovers the piston through a spring or other force mechanism after the air source is turned off; the double-acting cylinder has two working chambers, and the forward and backward movement of the piston can be controlled by switching between intake and exhaust.
